NEW YORK, December 6, 2017—Options Group, the global talent acquisition and development firm, which in recent years has gained a reputation for its multidimensional approach to talent strategy, announced this week that it has appointed L. Kevin Kelly as Vice Chairman.
Kevin Kelly, a committed privacy advocate, is currently the CEO of Halo Privacy, a cyber security and consulting firm focusing on advanced secure communications. Halo combines proprietary technologies and sophisticated tradecraft born of extensive public and private sector experience to offer a true privacy solution. Kevin has been instrumental in growing Halo’s footprint and projecting its strong reputation in the cyber security space.
In his new role at Options Group Kelly, formerly CEO at Heidrick & Struggles, will extend the firm’s already significant global presence. His portfolio will include collaborative strategies across the firm, expanding Options Group’s well-established footprint in financial services and technology while assisting in growing new practice areas including CEO and board practice as well as consumer, industrial and life sciences.
“Kevin’s addition to our senior team is a signal to the executive-search industry that we are determined to grow well beyond the conventional dimensions of the recruiting industry,” said Options Group CEO Mike Karp. “When we launched this firm 25 years ago, we were focused on exclusively recruiting talent for the financial services industry. Now we serve a broad range of industries and offer a wide array of products and solutions.”
“I am joining Options Group at an important inflexion point in the talent lifecycle” Kelly said, “Today, machine learning and robotics are leading the way, creating new imperatives in workforce planning and the nature of work. Options Group is at the forefront of industry trends in predictive analytics and cognitive tools and is well positioned to optimally leverage these changes. I have been impressed by the firm’s ground breaking technologies that afford clients a unique, competitive edge. The firm has moved from the hierarchical structures associated with the industry to new organizational structures with networks of teams empowered to take collective action. This truly provides a competitive edge in an industry where speed and agility have not necessarily been a competitive advantage”
According to Karp this expansive outlook is what makes Kelly a perfect fit for Options Group’s future. “We support clients in developing a strategic understanding of talent,” said Karp. “Everything that touches on talent is part of an Options Group client engagement—operational structure, corporate governance, culture, leadership development and assessment.” Karp points out that, like Options Group, Kelly’s perspective is international. Before assuming his current role of CEO at Halo Privacy, Kelly was CEO of Heidrick & Struggles, the global executive-search firm, from 2006 to 2013 and also served as president of Europe, Middle East, Africa of Heidrick & Struggles International and also ran the firm’s Asia Pacific operation as regional managing partner.
Kelly then served as CEO of Asia Pulp & Paper, one of the world's largest paper companies. Additionally, he is an advisor and board member of several companies and organizations as well as Duke University's Fuqua School of Business.
Kelly is a frequent speaker on global issues, executive management and human capital. He has authored three books on leadership: CEO: The Low Down on the Top Job, Top Jobs: How They Are Different and What You Need to Succeed and Leading in Turbulent Times. Kelly earned a BA from George Mason University and an MBA from Duke.
